Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe and covers 603,700 square kilometres. The Dnipro River with its many tributaries unifies central Ukraine economically, connecting the Baltic coast countries with the Black Sea and the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Russia to the east, Belarus to the north, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary to the west, Romania and Moldova to the southwest, and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to the south. The mouth of the Danube River provides an outlet for Ukrainian trade with the Balkans, Austria and Germany.
Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe. Its population ranks fifth in Europe (after Germany, Italy, Great Britain and France) and twenty-first in the world. Ukraine has the largest consumer market in Eastern Europe and is an ideal platform for manufacturing and export in Russia and EU.
