Lying in the southeastern coast of the Asia mainland at the western rim of the Pacific, the Philippines is one of the largest archipelagos in the world. It has about 7,100 islands and islets and is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on the east, the Celebes (Sulawesi) Sea on the south, and South China Sea on the west and north.

The Philippines offers diverse natural resources, from land to marine to mineral resources. It is also the biggest copper producer in Southeast Asia and among the top ten producers of gold in the world. Its many islands boast of beautiful beaches and breathtaking sceneries which make for popular tourist destinations.
